As Barbados reaches its milestone of 55 years of Independence this November, I can’t help but reflect on our own journey here at Tomlin Insurance Brokers.
Since 2017, the milestones we reached have not only been about success but a celebration of independent advice, trust-based relationships, and innovative solutions.
I am incredibly excited about the years to come! Take a look at some of the more memorable moments along the way:
2017
1st-day photo
Twenty years of experience had prepared me for this – but it was still nerve racking officially opening TIB.
The Bell
In 2017, we started with just one employee, Jodi Goodman, and our ship bell at our first office in Burnham Court, in St Michael.
Our Ship Bell was given to us by Peter J Tomlin, my uncle, a retired military officer.
The bell was installed in our Burnham Court office, and it is rung every time we gain a new client.
Historically, Navy ships used bells as a fog signal when the ship was at anchor in reduced visibility.
We love the symbolism of bringing clarity to complex risk for our clients.
The bell has moved with us from office to office and we certainly consider it as part of the Tomlin team.
2018
Opening of our Antigua office
In January 2018, we opened our Antigua Office at Jasmine Court, St John’s.
Today, it serves as the workplace of Edward Spencer, Jason Colbourne, and Devaughn Christian
2019
One Haggatt Hall – Our Official Headquarters
In 2019, we moved into the newly constructed One Haggatt Hall.
Its modern facilities and central location is perfect for our clients and team.
2021
Four year celebration
In May 2021, we celebrated four years of operations.
My awesome team got me a cake.
